Tempelhof Hinoki Cypress – 3 Gallon Pot

A natural and carefree beauty that lends an extremely fine and delicate texture to the landscape composition, ‘Tempelhof’ is a compact version of the Hinoki cypress growing to about 8 to 10 feet tall and 5 to 7 feet wide over time. A fine specimen in the landscape, its dense, rounded pyramidal form produces whorled sprays of emerald green foliage with a golden tint on the new growth. The foliage retains its color throughout the winter. It grows at a somewhat slow rate and is excellent in smaller spaces or containers.

The Tempelhof Hinoki Cypress is very easy to grow in a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun to light shade. It is moderately drought tolerant but will appreciate an occasional watering during prolonged periods of dry weather. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. Maintenance is minimal. No pruning is required. If you prune, only trim back the new growth of the current season. Tempelhof has performed wonderfully here in our Zone 8a gardens in north-central Georgia with no significant negative characteristics.
