Pink Pom Poms Redbud Tree – 3 Gallon Pot

A very unique cultivar discovered in Belvidere, Tennessee, the Pink Pom Poms is a magnificent version of our North American native Redbud tree. Before the leaves emerge in spring abundant clusters of fully double, bright purplish-pink flowers three times the size of the flowers on the species nearly cover the branches and stems. The dramatic flower display is one that’ll have you always looking for to spring. Immediately after flowering very pretty heart-shaped glossy red leaves emerge turning to orange-bronze and then bright green shades until turning golden-yellow with the arrival of cooler temperatures in fall. During winter the tree shows off its crown of unique and irregular branches. Pink Pom Poms is easy to grow in sun or shade, a wide range of soils, and is drought tolerant when established. Avoid planting red bud trees in low-lying areas where water tends to stand or the soil stays constantly soggy or wet. They don’t like wet feet!

Growing upright with an irregular rounded form up to 20 feet tall and wide, the Pink Pom Poms Redbud is ideal for use as a specimen or in groupings in sunny or shady landscape or woodland borders. Also nice to frame the corners of tall homes and to provide beauty and some shade around patios, porches and other outdoor living spaces. A fine addition to pink theme gardens, native gardens, woodland gardens and cottage gardens.

Suggested Spacing:   25 feet or more for space between trees

 

The Pink Pom Poms Redbud tree is very easy to grow in most any average, moist but well-drained soil and full sun or shade. It is very drought tolerant when established. Standing water or constantly soggy or wet soils can be problematic.
