Fire Star Dianthus (Carnation) – 1 Gallon Pot

A hybrid Dianthus cultivar prized for its compact growth, heat tolerance, fragrant blooms, abundant flowering and extended bloom period, Fire Star displays abundant clove-scented brilliant red flowers with a deeper crimson eye that appear in a lengthy late spring to early summer bloom. The flowers are perched atop stems rising 8 inches tall and slightly above the mound of attractive, evergreen, greyish blue-green foliage. This one is very heat tolerant, sporadically blooms through summer, and attract butterflies and hummingbirds. 

An upright grower to around 8 inches tall and about a 12 inches wide, Fire Star Dianthus is ideal for use as an accent or grouping in smaller garden spaces or as a border along paths and walkways or surrounding patios or garden beds. A fine addition to fragrance gardens, cut flower gardens, cottage gardens, sunny perennial gardens and red theme gardens.
