Description
Chicago Luster Viburnum is the most adaptable, versatile and easy-to-grow of any Viburnum we’ve grown…or any other type of shrub for that matter. It is a tough but gorgeous North American Native flowering shrub that will handle heat and extreme cold down to -35F, will grow in full sun to heavy shade, and its lush and lustrous foliage remains nearly perfect with no spotting or scorching during the summer. In spring, it produces abundant clusters of pretty, flat-topped white flowers that are followed by metallic, royal blue berries the songbirds will surely appreciate. A low-maintenance beauty that deserves a spot in every garden where it will grow. USDA Zones: 3a-8b
Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing to around 10 feet tall and equally as wide at maturity, Chicago Luster Viburnum is ideal for use as an eye-catching specimen shrub or in groupings in landscape and flowering shrub borders. Perfect in sunny or shady shaded woodland borders. A fine addition to white theme gardens, cottage gardens, wildlife gardens, shade and woodland gardens, and the Xeriscape (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing: 7 feet apart for solid hedge; 14 feet or more apart for space between plants.
Cultural Preferences
The Chicago Luster Viburnum is very easy to grow in most any wet or moist but well drained soil of average fertility and full sun to full shade. It prefers a loamy soil rich in organic matter. Deer haven’t touched it in our gardens. Responds well to light pruning after flowering for shaping purposes though doing so might remove berries.

This plant was happy and healthy right out of the box. It lost a few leaves in the sweltering heat before I was able to plant it, but has recovered nicely since being planted. I’m using it to create shade for an animal pen and can’t wait to see those navy berries grow.—————————————————————————–Thanks for the kind words and wonderful review! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
I was so happy to receive this! What struck me first is the vibrant green color of the leaves. I am excited as I have bought this to plant near my other viburnum that I got from you in the hopes of the blue berries in the future. I have it in back where all my bird feeders are and I am excited that the birds will have berries to feast on when they come on the bush. I found Wilson Brothers doing a search on bushes I can plant here in the Upper Peninsula. I have been pleasantly surprised not only by the plants you offer, but all the information I have received. Also, when i had questions about the viburnum I received help in a timely manner as well. Very happy with both of my viburnum plants you have sent me.————————————————–We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
I’ve ordered many plants through the mail, so I keep my expectations in check. I was really surprised by how big these one-gallon plants were. They were well packed and healthy.—————————————————-We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
